last days of the 2011-2012 school year

The last days of school have been bittersweet for Ava and Quinn. They are excited about summer (pool, water slide, and hanging out with friends) but they are really going to miss their classmates and mostly their teachers. I had each of them write a card for their teachers the morning of the last day. Ava came up with a poem the night before for Mrs. Emmons.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Mrs. Emmons is sweet
and school is too.

Quinn said that he would use the same poem for Mrs. Lamoreaux but in the morning he had already written the first three words all by himself.

I wish that
I could stay in
school all day.

We feel so blessed that our children love their school and teachers so very much. Thank you ladies!!

Last weekend we scratched one thing off our bucket list. MOUNT RUSHMORE. If you haven't seen it --do it. One of the most impressive things I have seen. Ava thought it was better than going to the pool that morning. Fun Fact: 90% of it was done by dynamite

Wild West Show

Each year the first grade classes get together to put on a Wild West Show for the parents. They spend weeks preparing for the show. The week leading up to the Parent's show they perform for the other classes at school. By the time Friday rolled around they are perfectly prepared.
