Richard III's remains were found in a parking lot in Leicester  Ava is fascinated by this. She wants to do research on his life. She has a folder that contains documents regarding this king of England and is forever looking at his family tree. I told her that if she loves history there are many jobs that she could do as an adult. History professor, work at a museum, historical fiction novelist or she could be the historian for the White House.

This picture reminds me of my girl.

Happy Birthday Princess Ava. 8 years old!!! How can my baby be so big. She has matured so much since we moved. Instead of her ready-made friends in Indy she has really mastered the art of making new friends. We did get to meet some at her birthday party.

September 2012
After yelling at Ava five times to brush her teeth before bed she said, "Geez Mom that was harsh." I said, "Well I should not have to tell you five times BUT good use of the word-Harsh" Ava's reply-"You can learn alot from Word Girl"
Yes, yes you can

August 2012
August has been a big month for Ava. She started the 2nd grade and she is in class with all her buddies. She had to be a big help for Nanee Sylvia and Papa Art when we ran off to Mexico. She didn't cry much and she was a trooper. Next came her Braces on her front teeth. She was ecstatic. Who knew braces could be so fun.

July 2012

My little angel has been a big help with the boys this summer. Helping them get ready for the pool, getting shoes on etc. She is certainly growing up.

June 2012
Ava started Track and Field for the summer. We were very proud of her because when she signed up she did not know anyone. Grace was taking Baseball and Ava did not want to do that again she really wanted to do Track. She followed through and ended up knowing a few girls from school. At one of the meets her team took 3rd in the relay race.

May 2012
This month has been very busy for us. Getting ready for the last days of school. All of the Meadow View First Graders put on a fantatasic show called the Wild West. All cowboy theme. It was very well done and it gave the kids a chance to perform. I found this on Pinterest and thought it was very fitting for my gal. It is everything that Mrs. Emmons tells me about her.

April 2012
This month Ava has turned on her mothering skills. I was sick with the stomach flu on and off for two weeks. Ava made the boys breakfast, got the something to do, turned on the TV etc. When she wasn't taking care of them she would sneek up stairs with water for me. I have never loved her so much. What an angel.

March 2012
Gymnastics!!! The new love at our house. Quinn and Ava have been going since the end of January. She was immediately advanced to Level 2. She practices all day every day. Thursday is their favorite day. Ava also has become an good skier. She tried out mogels for the first time in Winter Park with Aunt Gigi. Loves adventure my girl!

February 2012
Ava has now entered the world of Spelling Tests. This is very painful for me because I can see myself in her. Quizzing on the spot is not either of our strengths. She (like me) is not focused, easily distracted and just really doesn't find it fun. And if it is not fun, neither of us are interested in it-whatever it might be. I am so proud of her because she is really doing well. She is now passed all three spelling tests and is so proud of herself. Once she got the hang of the quizzing she seems to not be so scared of it. I can take a lesson from her example.

Also, Daddy Daughter Dance!!!!!

January 2012
Welcome mouth jewelry! Ava has had her expander and lip bumber put in by Dr. I and his Dream Team. I was very concerned about how she would handle this because..well lets face it she can be a little vain. Even though she talks a little lispy she seems to be making progress each day. She does not shy away from talking and doesn't seem to get frustrated with anything but the fact that she can't eat anything. For four days she ate only yogurt, mashed potatoes and soup. I tried to grind things up for her but she was not interested (Good Mommy Points-just for trying). Thankfully she has a very smart daddy who took us to Smashburger. Everyone in the family loves Smashburger. Ava ate all of her fries and most of her cheeseburger and was cured from eating soft food!! Yeah Daddy!

December 2011
This month Brent and I have noticed a delightful change in Ava. Maybe it has always been there but we are noticing it more these days. It seems that I have been more edgy recently due to the two year old we have in our house. The screaming and tantrums have sent me through the roof that sometimes it is hard to tell who is 2 and who is 37. Ava frequently reminds me that Baker is just a baby and he doesn't know any better. It has given me great pause. We have told her numerous times that we sometimes need to look to her example when dealing with him. She has such patience for him, it is no wonder why God gave us big sisters.
Also this month she has been going faithfully to choir. This started out with her and Grace and it is now a solo opportunity instead of a duet. It doesn't seem to bother Ava because she is so proud of herself. And we are too. At the end of December she will have sung at church 3 times. Of course we are very excited for her but what made us so proud is that she can now relate the songs sung in choir to scripture readings. This Advent we have started a Jesse Tree. Each day there is a scripture reading, a prayer and then an ornament that goes on a tree (separate from the Fraiser Fur). Tonights passage was fron Isaiah 11: 6-9. It talks about the lamb laying with the wolf and the baby. Ava piped up to tell us that it is like the song they sing in choir-On that Holy Mountain. Brent and I were so pleased-sometimes we do get it right.

November 2011
The worse thing that has happened to Ava this month is that Grace has been sick. There were two days that Grace stayed home sick from school. The first day Ava cried for over 45 minutes. By the time I picked her up from school she was better. She told me that it was ok to be without Grace. It gave her a chance to play with other kids during recess. The following week when Grace was out. She was a little teary eyed but she said that her day was great and that it was ok. But being the loyal friend that she is. She could not wait for her friend to come back to school. She told her she missed her!

October 2011
Of course this has been a very exciting month for Ava-birthday and Halloween. She is picking up new words at school. Thankfully nothing too bad. For example, she received her "prize" for selling 5 items for fund raising. She came home and told Brent and I that it was lame.

She is also starting to realize what makes a good friend. When she got her ears pierced she wanted to call Julia right away to tell her because "she is always happy when I tell her something new. She is always excited." Some of this is coming through in how she acts toward other friends. Last week she was going to change into a new outfit but decided not to because Grace could not change her clothes.

Our Ava has not lost her flare for fashion. This year she dragged Nanee Sylvia all around the mall looking for just the right school clothes. Nanee found a Badger shirt that she loves because it is so fashionable. I found this picture out on pinterest and it made me think of her.

4/14/2011:
Ava made blueberry muffins all by herself today. She did everything but put them in the oven. She really enjoys cooking and is quite good at it.

10/7/10: Today was a matchbox day for Ava. During Kindergarten they sang Happy Birthday to her and the teacher had a crown for her. She said she stood in the front of the class with a smile but was shy about it. Later on tonight we went to the Castle View High School football game with the Coyne family to watch the girls perform at half time. Last Saturday, Ava and Grace spent the afternoon with the cheerleaders and poms at a Cheer Camp. Everyone had a wonderful time. Ava loved her Cheer Buddy Kaylee. I felt like I flashed forward ten years to see her perform at half time. She was in her element and of course she wants a uniform

10/6/10. I know now that my baby is growing up. Today she made a project. She had three kitten necklaces to make. Ava told me that she wanted to think about others and wanted to give one to Jenna and one to Grace but she thought she would keep one for herself. Big steps for Miss Ava Grace.

Ava is enjoying her time at kindergarten. She loves to play on the monkey bars at recess with her friend Grace. She is starting to read books and really is pleased when she gets things right. We are working on math and counting with her. Her teacher says that she works hard and she is a joy to have in class. Hooray!
