Jesse Tree

A new Advent tradition at our house is the Jesse Tree. For those of you that have not heard of this here is a brief summary...

The Jesse Tree represents Jesus' family tree. The name is taken from Isaiah 11: 1, in which Jesus is referred to as a shoot coming up from the stump of Jesse, father of David. The ornaments on the Jesse tree tell of Jesus' ancestors, and of the events leading to the birth of Jesus.

Brent had given me a Jesse Tree kit a few years ago. The kids are now old enough to get in to it. The kit included paper ornaments to color and cut out. Here is a picture of our Jesse Tree the first few days into it. Everyone seems to have enjoyed this new tradition.

The other Advent event at our house has been the Playmobil Advent Calendar that Auntie Kathy set for the boys. It has a policeman theme. Each day you open some Cops and Robbers prop. So far we have a policeman, a robber on a bike, a police dog and money. So instead of Elf on the Shelf we have the policeman that visits different locations throughout the house. I thought this was the most clever of Quinn...
